A friend in France, where they can go more than 1km from home, has a 2nd-hand pair of vector pedals for turbo training. The signal keeps dropping out, or going haywire. Any top tips? Merci

I’ve had the same problem with a stages it works fine on the road but on the turbo it keeps dropping out have done some searching on the web but can’t find anything.
The only possible thing I can think of is the turbo could be creating some form of interference on or near the 2.4ghz frequency.
Do you know what turbo it is and if the pedals work ok on the road?

Also / what is he recording the power to? Software like zwift / TrainerRoad on a laptop or just his regular headunit? I used to have drop out issues when I connected my stages to TrainerRoad via an ANT+ dongle and simultaneously to my garmin but now I do it all through Bluetooth to TrainerRoad only and it hasn’t been an issue since.

The issues with the Garmin Vector 3 are the connection to the batteries. Garmin did release an update to the battery cover two years ago but they have just released a new version at the beginning of March this year. I contacted Garmin and they have sent me out new covers, which I don't have yet.
The other thing that helps is to get a single thicker battery for each pedal, the CR1/3N battery (rather than two LR44 or SR44 batteries). They are more expensive and they don't last quite a long but work better (there is an issue with the batteries rubbing a patch on each other that then doesn't conduct very well).
Hope this helps.

I had a similar issue, but switched off Bluetooth on my Mac and used ANT+ instead as my Garmin HR monitor only uses ANT+. Seems you need to ensure you are using one or the other not both for all connected devices.

Mine give me regular dropouts when bluetooth and ant+ are both enabled. Turn off bluetooth on whatever is listening and then the dropouts disappear.

I had similar issues, but putting a very small amount of chain lube on both sides of the batteries today seems to have solved it for me.
