Hi I'm really pissed off after being knocked off my 'town and country' mountain bike about two weeks ago. The guy was in a black sports car with the roof down, about 50 errands worth of Lexus. He claims to be a solicitor but failed to give me his insurance details.. He didn't look before he pulled out, I was travelling at a decent speed and obviously being already on the road and with the flow of traffic, had the right of way. He failed to notice me even with lights on and a bright white t shirt. Action will be taken, and I think on three acounts he is clearly in the wrong, also with a witness that couldn't believe the guy blamed me for the accident.
Some people.. so anyway, aside from bruising and a niggling wrist to elbow injury that tomorrow will be checked out at the MIU, The bikes front wheel got buggered by the impact.. wheel's gone.. and apart from not having used the roads since I still would like to get a road bike, a proper one.
Lessons I would like to share with cycling community are: even if you are in the right, there are complete aresholes that will even claim an accident to be your fault, even immediately after the accident. In future I won't even say a word, but something needs to be done about it, because I'm not the only one, and Ken Livingstone is on our sides, whether we like that idea or not, about cycling and cycling in london, and more of it. So, I'm a little busy, as we all are, but am pursuing this, and I would like anyone else to talk about this taboo subject we obv are aware of and are keen to avoid out on the roads about accidents. Any advice from previous experiences would be great, I'm getting into the sport and its really dissapointing at the attitudes of some drivers in London. Specifically, as cyclists is there anything in particular I should do, or a course of action I should be inclined to take..
On a positive note, I'm interested in joining the club and interested in buying a decent bike or parts of, to make up a suitable whole.
Thanks
