At 10.20 this a.m ,on a clear road with no traffic approaching I was mown down by a driver who proceeded to mount the pavement, fly along on two wheels before touching down and travelling for 20 + m. before regaining control and coming to a halt about 100 m.up the road. When I finally got up she drove off, only to be halted by traffic lights and thats where I caught her.So asking this African female why she did it,the lights turned green and she shot off. So .. 7 hrs in A&E later with a smashed knee, and now on crutches thanks to the N.H.S,Ive learnt a lesson about not doing sneaky T.T. training. At this rate we should consider embroidered `wings` for survivors of traffic incidents.

Sorry to hear about your accident Howard. We were wondering about your whereabouts this afternoon.
If you got the registration number of the car, report it to the police. It's a classic hit and run (except that you got up and chased her down). Even if you didn't get the registration number, still report it. Someone else might have witnessed the incident and taken the registration number for you.

Not a club you want to be in - let me tell you. I know where you are at. If you want or are able to meet up for a beer/coffee etc... I am willing able to listen. I know where you are coming from.
I am begining to think the police should actually police the roads.
I know this is a crazy concept.

Sorry to hear that Howard, hope you are on the road to recovery. Appears drivers everywhere need to use their eyes a bit more often. My brother in law just got rear ended yesterday on a motorbike whilst stationary waiting to go on a roundabout. and just as you are saying that I should start training throughout the winter to race next season - might keep to sensible sports like climbing

Dont worry Mark, this wont happen to you for a good while,if ever - the cause for her distraction was the sight of someone so good looking going oh so fast ;D Seriously, more people are injured sitting on the toilet each year than in cycling ( Office of Government Statistics ) You just get out on the bike boy and let nature take its course. I`ll be out as soon as I can cock a leg over the crossbar

Can I join the club too? Riding to work last Thursday I had an arguement with the tarmac and a green Rover. Riding a long the South croxted road behind a car doing about 20mph he decided to give me a brake test, which I failed and resulted in me going over the bars. He eventually stopped about 100yards away and then just hung around before ambling up to me with his mate about 5 mins later. Offered no apology just grunted "you ok?" then came up with cock and bull story about someone pulling out in front of him. Ah well that'll teach me to ride too fast, I must remember my place and that the motorist owns the road. S

Another membership card request for me as well please.
I know a few of you saw me sitting on the road side on the way to the cafe on saturday morning after the ride. On seeing the barriers a car traveling up the hill decided to do a u-turn, as I then slid along their bonnet.
Thankfully they were cyclists and very apologetic which makes a nice change. Was not too badly hurt as managed to run the nike 10k the next day, then went to the hospital today to check nothing more serious - perhaps I should have done that the other way round.

Really sorry to hear that Mark. Its a cause for concern whenever anyone is injured, especially when third parties seem oblivious to the impact this can have. I`m still on the sofa-bed in the dining room, peeing in a bucket because of inability to negotiate stairs. The effect on family can be as devastating as well and theres no real answer. We cant go around riding defensively and scared of shadows so its a case of assertive riding and eyes open at all times - a bit like a war zone unfortunately. Glad you`r not too badly hurt and the confidence hasn`t gone.

Will be back on the other bike tomorrow commuting, and awaiting a damage assesment from Todd. Thankfully the drivers could not have been more appologetic - just wish they were all like that.
Sorry to thear you are still recovering from your accident Howard.
