On the 18th October Claire, Matilda and I will be flying one way to Vancouver cos Claire has a job out there. On Saturday 14th October we will be having a leaving do in the back room at Page 2, Nunhead Lane, corner of Old James Road, 8pm - 1am, which all Paragonistas are invited to. It's also an early celebration of my reaching Veteran Racing Cyclist status in November... See you there!

All the very best Sean.. Unfortunately I can't make it on Saturday as I'm already committed to the SERRL Fundraiser - I can't believe they didn't consult someone of your stature before setting the date!

My stature? Are you implying I'm fat?! Anyway, the bar is open until 1.30am so come along after and show us your Tombola prizes.

Thanks to everyone who came along. We had a fantastic time. Photo of cake to follow... We're off on Wednesday morning with three suitcases, a baby and 2 bikes, so wish us luck. There's a 'cross race in Vancouver on Sunday so maybe I'll give it a go and show those Canadians how (not) to do it. Look out for the results on VancouverCycleSport.com!

If you're still logging on to the message baord, I'm sure the whole club is dying to know whether you won the cross race. If you came only second, we're sure that a season of cross racing through the Canadian winter will make you a more fearsome adversary than you already are. Hope the move went smoothly for you all and that you are settling in nicely.

Nah, not bothering with it any more now we've started our new life - I only check it two or three times a day now. didn't do the cross but went out with the Central Vancouver CC. Nice bunch of people. The ride itself was slightly disheartening; imagine the ride out of London except you never actually get out of London. A lot of traffic lights (scrupulously observed). There was a bit of countryside when we got to Richmond and a burn-up around the airport, where I put my chaingang form to good use. There's a ride called the Ace ride which is a Sunday chaingang made up of riders from different clubs I'm going to check out - allegedly pretty brisk, but flat. Sounds like fun... I'll keep you posted.

You're up late Sean...
I think I see your problem -- if there was a "Central London CC", it would probably have pretty depressing rides also...

Hey Mr Mckibben
Glad you got there safely. Good luck with finding a better ride.
Oh and getting a job and all that other stuff.

Sean, When I was out in Vancouver I hired a bike for a few days and did some cycling up to Seymour and Grouse mountains. As far as I could tell there wasn’t any connecting route – just an up and down but a bit more fun than trundling through the city.
I suspect that you’ll have more fun mountain biking. I sent you a PM with my friend’s details.
