I do love this bike but am heading back to OZ in september...
why? Cos it does everything. All the mounting points for racks and fenders and water bottles. You could race it on the road, cross, tour or commute.
race proven! Kona Jake the Snake
performed supurbely throughout the winter... handles very nicely- resposive but far from twitchy; predictable in rear end drifts ; quite lite
London CycloX season-10thO/A on points. gottabegood!?
56cm Easton ultralite Taperwall tubed frame
~105 brake/shifter units and derailleurs
~interuptor brake levers on tops (cyclocross brake levers)
~'avid shorty' cantilevers-plenty of stopping power
~fork-Kona's project2, steel ... good for long life and peace of mind...but a tad heavy
-XTR SPD's
Condition
Brand new Bottom Bracket installed.
Drivetrain good for another season-
---New small ring-39; acceptable wear on big ring-48; chain near new and cassette in his forties!(mid life)
bought it off a commuter on ebay... so i reckon the frame isn't too thrashed...a few chips here and there but the bike looks great when cleaned up as it is now.
choice of wheels available (or 2 sets-one with road tyres/one with offroad tyres)
SET 1=Rolf vector comps(28spokesR20spokesF~~lighter, sexier but not suitable off road for riders over 75kg...fine on road though...I raced all last year on 'em)
SET 2=Fshimano Deore hub, mavicMA3 rim;RShimano105laced to stronger MavicOpen20(double eyeletted)
hmmmmm ...with postage and replaced /added parts (cross brakes)the bike owes me £400 minus goodtimes!
i did get a bargain.... you can too £300your choice of wheels and good times thrown in!
£400 with both sets of wheels (SET1 cassette 12-23-on road tyres; SET2 12-25 offroad tyres)
