Borough of Bromley Go-Ride Project Expressions of Interest Invited
At a meeting of the Bromley Borough group of the London Cycling Campaign on 10 Sep, there was general agreement to proceed with the creation of a British Cycling Go-Ride Club in the borough, at two potential venues, with links to a third Club already begun. The aim is to promote cycling among children and young people across the borough.
The meeting was attended by reps of interested organisations (Bigfoot BC, British Cycling Go-Ride London, Bromley Cyclists, JusB Youth Charity, SE20 Cycles Shop, Southeastern RC, Sydenham Wheelers CC; apologies from Bromley Council Road Safety Team, Catford CC).
The timeline discussed is for a British Cycling Go-Ride Club to be up and running by this time next year, or maybe earlier. The principle need at this point is for expressions of interest, support and sponsorship for a club that will be independent of other cycling clubs in the borough, but which will ultimately provide a future for them.
A suggested date for a meeting of interested individuals and groups for in-depth planning is Wednesday, 15 October, at a venue to be confirmed.
If you would like to be a part of this exciting venture, please get in touch.

More from Bromley Go Ride:
GO-RIDE!!! A new and exciting bike club in Bromley, aimed at children and young people aged 8 - 12, is currently being planned with the aim of being launched in 2009 - for fun, fitness and learning skills. Just now a group of interested people is forming to help set up the club. There is an amazing amount of expert support and funding available, including from Bromley Council and British Cycling, and there are many examples of other similar successful clubs around the country that act as inspiration. The club would be affiliated as a British Cycling 'Go-Ride' club.
Now is the time for the clubs exact aims and objectives (incl club name, venues, types of cycling covered (BMX, Mountain, Road) etc) to be formed and carried forward.
If anyone fancies getting involved there are a whole range of ways in which you can support - from being on the steering group, helping with funding and venues, helping setting up its web site, being a coach or supporting the events more generally when they happen next year. If you think you might be interested in coaching there is a need for training that only happens a few times each year - so the sooner we hear from you the better.
If anyone is interested to find out more please contact Charles Potter, 07951 780869.
