Hi, I am looking at insuring my Colnago C40 and dad's Trek OCLV.
Can anyone recommend a good Insurance Company that will insure more expensive bikes???
I have heard that they exist.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Seb

Hi
I used Cycleinsurancedirect.com to insure my Carbon Giant TCR2 last year and have since stopped it since they are rubbish.
They only replace broken parts in a crash if they are totally trashed...I took a slide in Spring '06, knocked off my rear derailer and scratched up my bars and shifters but good! They wouldn't pay anything out since the only broken part was my rear hanger, costing pretty much the same as the £50 excess. So I had payed about £150 for the year and had to be satisfied with scratched-up shifters...nice...
Not only that, I had to fight at the start of the contract to get them to insure my pedals and saddle as separate components - they seemed to not have heard of a bike that didn't come with all parts attached...probably gone to Halfords to get their bikes.
I'd avoid them mainly because they seem to be motor/home insurers trying to screw us cyclists out of a few bob.
Why not go through British Cycling and see what they say? At least they are the cyclists, not some desk-jockeys.
That's just my feelings and experience but I seriously recommend getting some kind of organisation that has cycling at its heart, not just some big insurance company.
cheers, Hoep the opinion helps, I'd genuinely like to have fewer people in the position I was in, I didn't like it at all.
Dave

My policy through the BCF was new for old and included crash damage in races.
