I just love the taste of mud and horse manure. Any chance of those anti-social sorts without mudguards making a bit more of an effort?

Come and ride with me on the front, no mud splashing in your face there.

Very true Phil. Back in the day I remember people getting told pretty much fron day one, no mugaurds? You ride on yer own mate! Mind you I've just hurled my last lot of mudgaurds down the end of the garden, after half of it fell off on traffic. They are a complete pain, they rattle, bang and flap all over the place, but if you're riding in a group, in inclement weather, then out of consideration to others you should have them. Maybe it's the proliferation of wonderbikes that we all ride, that we just can't bear to spoil the lines with a set of gaurds? Or is it just a reflection of society, we don't care whether our fellow riders are being sprayed with a constant jet of belgian toothpaste? Or loads of new riders who aren't told, you should have mudgaurds if you're riding in a group during the winter? Or we all think we're pro riders and who's ever seen a pro with mudgaurds? I don't know!

Lack of eyelets is not an excuse.

Any recommendations? SKS Race Blades seem to be the market leader as road bike add-ons.

Since I ride at the front so much I thought it appropriate to buy some mudguards. I just received my SKS race blades from the wiggle-website for £27.99. I couldn't find them any cheaper else where.

Not long enough!! You'll still be spraying filth over all and sundry. You need to fashion a mudflap out of an Ecover washing up bottle like I did. Stylish AND ecological.

What do you mean 'not long enough'? I think mine is long enough to spray filth over all and sundry.....
Is Ecover's plastic ecological? I've seen drink bottles being put to a second use as mudguard extensions as well.

Is Ecover's plastic ecological? Probably not, but it makes me chuckle.
