I've had the following message from a British company in the Pyrenees:
PyrActif is a British-run cycling holiday firm based in the French Pyrenees. We've been based here for 15 years and have great in-depth knowledge of the best places to ride, the great climbs of the Tour de France and local cyclosportives. We run Road and MTB trips for cyclists of all levels. We provide airport transfers from 5 different Pyrenean airports, comfortable farmhouse accommodation, excellent catering and can support your riding as much or as little as you'd like us to. Some groups & riders are very happy that our central location gives us such great access to so many superb roads that they opt for DIY riding tours. We'll still help with their route planning if they want us to - at no extra cost. Other visitors prefer the 'team car' back-up of a support vehicle for some or all of their trip. Having the reassurance of a vehicle to carry spares, clothing layers, cameras, water, food etc can allow riders to take on longer routes or 'travel light' in variable weather conditions.
Our most popular airport for arrivals & departures is Toulouse (which is about 1 hour from our base). Toulouse has excellent links with Gatwick thanks to the Easyjet and BA routes between the two and so riders and clubs based in the South East or South Coast are amongst our most frequent visitors (including your own Ian Graver who rode the Pyrenees Coast-to-Coast with us in 2008) .
This mail is really to let you know that we'd be delighted to host Dulwich Paragon members if ever any of you decided a trip to the Pyrenees would make for a good riding holiday. We have a host of organised or DIY rides to choose from (see our website at www.pyractif.com ) and we offer discounts on group bookings of 8 or more riders.
If anyone at Dulwich Paragon has any questions about riding in the Pyrenees, then we'll be more than happy to help try to answer them.
Best wishes and happy pedaling!
