In the last month I have had 10 punctures now, different brand of inner tubes, and 9 of them on the same rear tyre.
They all 'seem' to be in different places and on the tread size of the tyre. I replaced the tyre but this did not change anything.
I can't be this unlucky, any ideas what else it could be?
tony.

Not that I know about riding in the English winter but specialized armadillos might solve your problems.

The make and model of tyre might give us a clue...

Armadillos are great at avoiding punctures, but they give a horrible ride and are downright scary in the wet. I believe David managed to get across Africa without a single puncture. Make sure you have your tyres pumped up to the recommended pressure, try avoiding pot holes and stay away from the couple of feet nearest the edge of the road. You might also be pinching the inner tube when you put it in - always make sure the inner tube is seated properly before you fully pump them up - one way of doing this is to semi-inflate the tyre and then let all the air out; then go around the entire rim pushing the tyre away from the rim wall (remember to do both sides). It is also best to avoid using levers to get the tyre back on, although this isn't always possible unless you have thumbs like Todd.

Check your rim tape.

Gatorskins are good - one puncture (flint) in 6 months

Another vote here for Conti Gator Skins, its the only tyre I'm willing to use in Winter. I've had about 2 punctures in the last 3 years on them and that includes commuting duties. They roll ok as well though if you want a faster tyre I've heard good things about Conti Four Season as well.

Go for the armadillos - never had a puncture on them - but they are sluggish.
I think Hassan has a pair spare.

gatorskins are fine but they are a bit tight, I've had a nightmare with them on Shimano rims. Good tyre though.

I have bontrager racelite hardcase tyres which are pretty incredible at not getting punctured. They're pretty easy to get on and off the rims and perform ok in the wet.
