A while back now...I recall arriving at Herne Hill for an afternoon track-meet to find several teams competing in a private event - all of which were architects! One name I remember clearly emblazoned across lycra skinsuits was Hopkins, and this is clearly why: tinyurl.com/8oc9hqLooking forward to those "test events" in the year before the Olympics!

It looks great. Soon we'll have a track to enjoy the six months of the year HH is out of action. Bring it on. Mark B.

A mate of mine is one of their architectural model makers and really enjoyed the day out at Herne Hill.
Quite a lot of the people who work there are cyclists and they were all very excited about working on the velodrome.

I'm getting my accreditation at Newport with a group of friends on the 16th and 17th of May. In order to be able to ride the new track I think accreditation will be necessary. You certainly need it to turn up and ride at Newport or Manchester:
Track Accreditation: Accreditation is required should you wish to compete in the track leagues. It is also strongly recommended that you achieve accreditation before competing in any other track event. Accreditation will also ensure that you have the requisite skills to safely participate in any drop-in session.
Our group is full but if anyone drops out I'll put a post on the forum to see if anyone is interested in having the place.
By the time the velodrome is ready and open for punters I suspect it will be very much in demand so early accreditation will be a good idea.

Accreditation, what's that all about? I don't seem to remember when riding at Leicester or Calshot back in the 80's that you needed any sort of certificate.

No too sure about that Mark. I suspect it's something new - I'll check on the various websites when I have time.
I quite fancy having a go at Calshot. I know VCL organise trips so I might gatecrash if they let me.
