I am contacting you on behalf of a colleague who is organising the fifth anniversary of the "Ch'ti Bike Tour" which takes place in the Lille Metropole area of northern France over the weekend of 29/30 August 2009. The event consists of "The Laurent Desbiens Cycling Event", a 100 mile race on the roads of the Mounts de Flandres, a 2 day "Tour of the Mounts" touring event including B&B, dinner and entertainment at the Parc d'Olhai There are also several mountain bike events including a "tour" of Flanders with routes of various lengths for family participation and a more focussed mountain bike route.
The event is probably better described as a "cycling festival" and may be viewed on the French website www.lechtibiketour.org The organisers have a long history of involvement in cycle racing and the management of cycling events and are supported by Bernhard Thevenet (twice winner of the Tour de France) who will be involved throughout the "Ch'ti Bike Tour" weekend. Various national French organisations also lend valuable support to this event.
This year it is hoped to attract significant interest from the UK. I am specifically contacting clubs and cycle specialists in the south east, given the proximity of the Flanders location.
I hope that you and your colleagues will be interested.
Best regards,
Paul Roache
