Lap times and results for the Herne Hill races are now on London Cycle Sport.

Hmmm. Something fishy about the results from race one. First, they've got me down as RICK Roberts; second, as a VCL member; and third, as being beaten by Delia! Congratulations. I must try harder.

Rick, I'll try not to be offended by your incredulity at being beaten by me. Looking at the results, they seem pretty insane for both races one and two. Perhaps we should tell VCL that things look a little awry...?
Unfortunately, they didn't apply any 'correction' for my diabolical performance for race two. Shame.

I don't mind being beaten by ladies, it's just the Rick that irks me.
In the style of Rumsfeld, I think the VCL know that they don't know. As it's not a real race, I'll let it go this time.

Don't get 'rolled' now 'Rick', Paragon's never gonna let you down! (where's the tumble-weed smiley?!)

The results were a bit ropey both weeks - we had a few people new to judging having a go as it was only a go-ride race & they had a go at using the Beastway software for the first time & it didn't go too well (not the fault of the software) as a few missed numbers or people with unreadable numbers made a real mess of it. I was originally down as finishing 3rd but 3 laps down! Bill & Jason made an effort to get a reasonable set of results out of it although I can see a few mistakes still but as it's only a cheap & cheerful training race I've not kept hassling for changes.
Regarding the names, I typed up the youth results & about 25% were completely unreadable, some I got right coz I know the people, but a few I had to guess. I've not had the senior start sheets back yet, but I suspect the same thing here. I really wish BC would hurry up & wake up with technology for EOL events - if the Belgians can do EOL with a laptop & bar code scanner & a bar code on peoples licenses, then why can't we? Ok so you'd still get some people in Go-ride events without a licence, but it would help no end rather than the organiser having to type everything up from scribbled sheets.
Quite how 'Richie Rick' is down as VCL though I just don't know, there's no excuse for that one, I'll have words with the person concerned & make sure that never happens again....

I wouldn't want me associated with your serious racing club either....
Both races were huge fun, so a big thank you for all your efforts both in setting them up and divining the results. Yet again I was impressed by what good courses you get from a fairly restricted piece of ground and reminded what an asset the velodrome is.
A friend of mine did his first cross race in the second of the series and is now hooked - that's what these go-ride things are all about.

I'll second Richie's praise for the organisation and course. Having never done cross before these two races, I wasn't sure what to expect (or how on earth you get a course in that area). Awesome stuff and a complete convert.
So much so that i'm heading a billion miles to Fowlmead this Sunday for the London(?) League.
Who'd have thought tyre pressure would be so interesting!
