If anyone’s interested in heading to France for cycling/ or skiing my mate has a fantastic apartment to rent on outskirts of Bourg St Maurice.
The well known cols are Iseran, Roseland and Petite St Bernard. www.grenoblecycling.com/BourgStMaurice.htm details some of cycling possibilities.
Good direct train from st Pancras to Bourg St Maurice - though the apartment is a few km out of town – so if you didn’t have a car the odd taxi rides to and from train station / supermarket might be useful. There is secure storage for bikes.
The quality of accom is great, far more spacious than the usual french affair and rentals are very reasonable - prices and info on www.mrblueski.com - plus 10% discount for any DP members.
