Some fine riding by you lot tonight at the velodrome- improvements all round- well done and keep it up as we will start racing in January.
This Saturday
A recovered Dave and I will be leading a longish endurance road ride from the Velodrome returning in time for Joe to watch his friend Carlton play football at 12.30, the sacrifices we make! Ride suitable for those over 15 yrs- normal rules and pack drill.
Off Road Ride 7th December
As you all appeared to enjoy to our inadvertent introduction to off road trail riding in Epsom the other week, we are planning another off road adventure for Saturday 7th December. Starting from the Velodrome at the normal time, we have planned a route out towards the Downs at Woldingham and back. This route does not have many (any) nasty tricky bits only fast flowing trails. Start thinking about how you are going to purloin a MTB bike for the morning, and yes Joe, if you pedal furiously, you will be back in time to watch Carlton kick his ball around. (This ride is suitable for older riders 15yrs plus and strong HHYCC members 14 yrs plus - distance approx 34 miles off road)
DP Track induction on 8th December
Most of you have now experienced the joys of riding on the track on road bikes- to take it one step further Charly Roberge has organised a introductory track session on track bikes. The session will be about 1 to 2 hours long and starts at 2pm. You need to sign up on the forum thread www.dulwichparagon.proboards.com/post/46128/thread or email Jen Allum directly on jenniferallum@gmail.com if you want to join in. The session will cost £5 (subsidised by the club- what value you get for a tenner). DP has some track bikes you can borrow but demand for them will be high, so as always- if you don't have the right bike let me or Dave know and we will try and sort something out for you. (This session is open to DP members only)
NB You have to complete an induction before you can use track bikes on the velodrome- the normal sessions are very busy and this would be a good opportunity to do the course.
Road Racing in the New Year
Be warned! Youth and Junior races will be starting in the New Year and we plan to make these the focus of every alternate Saturday, ie on a race day we will not be leading a general ride but will meet and pootle/drive to either the Velopark or Hillingdon to arrive in good time for the Youth race followed by a 3/4 Junior race. Once recovered we will amble back, no doubt discussing the victories, tactics and excuses as we go along- if the race is at Hillingdon expect a curry on the way home. Dates and details will be provided in due course however now is the time to ask an aged Aunt to stump up for your BC race license.
