Bit of a Dulwich first last Sunday, the venerable South London Road Club actually entered 2 teams into some ghastly mud fest and both teams did really quite well. 12-12 Tork in your Sleep race for the uninitiated is a 12 hour team MTB race, starting at midday, ending in the pitch black of midnight and is a true baptism of mud, stupidity, damned hard work and fun.
Stan and Joe formed the Dulwich the Younger team and performed outstandingly with some impressive early lap times coming in 21st overall, probable within the top 3 of Juniors. Dulwich the Elder team came in 11th and Geoff Nutter rode his own 6 hour race with vigour. Abbi van Twist was sadly plagued by mechanicals throughout the race, but when she could ride, she excelled.
Rides this weekend 30th August
Youth and Junior Ride
We will be continuing our combined Youth and Junior series of rides this Saturday, the group will leave the velodrome at 8.50 am and ride to Kenley Aerodrome where there will be a brief skills session on cornering. The group will split on the return ride- Juniors will be able to make a more circuitous but faster paced route back and with luck both groups will be back at Crystal Palace at about 1pm.
As this is a road ride normal rules apply:
· DP/HHYCC & BC membership required (unless this is your first ride with the club)
· Helmets must be worn
· Bring copious quantities of drink and some food
· Spare inner tubes that fit
· Emergency money
· Telephone number of parent or rescuer on a piece paper
· If this is your first ride a signed parent’s consent form.
Parents/guardians/rescuers – please ensure you are contactable and available to collect your charge should the need arise.

De Laune 125th Celebration Rolla Pluza. This is a team event of roller training type racing. De Laune have put up some decent and not so decent prizes - £125 for the 1st mixed team and £1.25 for the first all male team! – yeah no typo that. This is one of the few races held in the Peckham Liberal Club - so it’s got to be worth it. dulwichparagon.proboards.com/thread/7812/laune-125th-anniversary-roller-racing
