Some fine riding tonight from Oliver and Joe on the Junior Chain Gang, some sections of tight group riding at an excellent pace – good work boys.
Rides this weekend , 6th September Junior Ride
Dave will lead out a Junior ride this Saturday, meeting the velodrome 8.50 am he’ll drag you around the lanes of Kent until he desperately needs a caffeine top up at Crystal Palace around 1pm.
As this is a road ride normal rules apply:
· DP/HHYCC & BC membership required (unless this is your first ride with the club)
· Helmets must be worn
· Bring copious quantities of drink and some food
· Spare inner tubes that fit
· Emergency money for tea ‘n’ buns
· Telephone number of parent or rescuer on a piece paper
· If this is your first ride a signed parent’s consent form.
Parents/guardians/rescuers – please ensure you are contactable and available to collect your charge should the need arise.
Sunday 7th September
Round 1 of the London League Cross in Brighton. Details at www.londonxleague.co.uk
Junior Chain Gang 11th September
Alas I will be doing the Transylvanian Tour next week so cannot lead the normal Thursday Chain Gang. Regular Junior riders can (with their parent’s permission) join the regular Wednesday Chain Gang but please behave and respect your elders and betters……………
Saturday 13th Off road Cyclo Cross/MTB adventure on Mitcham Common.
The first in a series of off road adventures where we will prepare you for some of the rigours of cyclo cross racing. Don’t worry if you haven’t a cyclo cross bike as I hoping to be able to secure the use of the British Cycling fleet. (Please let me know if you will need to borrow a bike)
Meet at the normal time and we will finish at Crystal Palace at 1pm. This ride is open to both youth and Junior riders, older HHYCC riders are especially encouraged to attend.
18th September Roller Racing in Peckham – for money
De Laune 125th Celebration Rolla Pluza. This is a team event of roller training type racing. De Laune have put up some decent and not so decent prizes - £125 for the 1st mixed team and £1.25 for the first all male team! – yeah no typo that. This is one of the few races held in the Peckham Liberal Club - so it’s got to be worth it. dulwichparagon.proboards.com/thread/7812/laune-125th-anniversary-roller-racing
Entries close shortly – so let me know if you want to join the Dulwich the Younger team.
20th September Dulwich World Champs
DP’s end of season race is held at the Stratford Velodrome. Road race open to all DP racers, prizes, cups and general hero worship for the winner. Any Youth or Junior who has raced this year really needs a very good excuse to miss this event.
21st September Cyclo X - Round 2 - A good course
Round 2 London Cross League- Gunpowder Park. This is one of the better courses, some tricky hills, if wet, a deal of mud but always has some fast descents.
28th September
Diary clash – damned good Gorrick MTB www.gorrick.com and round 3 of the London League at Herne Hill www.londonxleague.co.uk
Pretty much your lot for the week, let me know about the Delaune Roller thingy
Regards
