A large turnout last Saturday morning for the first off road ride of the Autumn series with several new faces to compliment the usual suspects. Our intention is to run these rides every alternate Saturday until Christmas.
This Saturday – 20th September- Dulwich World Champs.
The annual Dulwich end of season crit race is held this Saturday at Stratford. Advertised as a ‘fun celebration of the year’s racing’, code for it’s deadly serious and a must for anyone who has raced this year. Prizes are 'huge' for the winners and hero worship available in liberal quantities for all entrants.
Youth categories A & B and Juniors can race and the invitation extends to HHYCC members (despite the blurb on the link). Entry either on Rider HQ or on the day. We will lead a ride to the event leaving the velodrome at 8.50 and returning after the race. There are post race jollies in the Woodhouse later in the day.
Note that Dulwich Kit should NOT be worn if racing - it confuses the judges to have the entire field in light blue.
For those not competing, this is a fun event and parents/guardian are encouraged to join us on the ride to and from the velodrome.
The ride will be on the road so normal rules apply:
DP/HHYCC & BC membership required
Helmets must be worn
Bring copious quantities of drink and some food
Spare inner tubes that fit
Emergency and nominal entry fee money
Telephone number of parent or rescuer on a piece paper
If this is your first ride a signed parent’s consent form.
Parents/Guardians/Rescuers- you must be contactable and able to collect your charge should the need arise.

Sunday 21st September
Round 3 London League Cross- Gunpowder Park
London Pheonix run this event well with the only disadvantage is that is held near the top of London, however as it is one of the better courses in the calendar it is worth the journey. In previous years the course has been a muddy challenge with some interesting short climbs, however since it hasn’t rained for ages this year the course ought to be fast and the racing furious.

Junior Chain Gang – Wednesday 24th September
Same time, same place, 7.10 at Elmers End. Open to seasoned Juniors only.
Saturday 27th September
We are planning to repeat the off road experience again, ride will start at the Velodrome at 8.50am and return approx. 1pm. Please let me know if you haven’t a cross/mtb bike and I will try and arrange for you to borrow one of British Cycling’s fine machines. Further details next week .
Sunday 28th September
Bit of an off road diary clash- London League at Herne Hill and the 1st the Gorrick Winter series in Bracknell. Both are good events………
Thursday 2nd October Road on track Chain Gang Sessions at Herne Hill
The first in the all winter series of track based chain gangs run by Jason Catemole and I. More details to follow, but a serious training opportunity every Thursday though out the winter. Open to riders 12 plus – make a note in your calendars.
That’s quite enough stuff- there are some pretty decent races on this week end, I look forward to seeing you all sometime during the week end.
