Saturday Ride 21st February - Road ride and skills session
We will be continuing the series of road rides aimed at building your strength and ability so you can race the Summer Crystal Palace series with confidence. Thus a road ride starting at the Velodrome at 8.45 am broadly following the Dulwich Paragon Saturday route with a brief half hour skills session chucked in along the way.
The ride will be on road so the normal rules apply:
•DP/HHYCC & BC membership required
•Helmets must be worn
•Wear suitable clothing for the season- prepare for cold
•Bring copious quantities of drink and some food
•Spare inner tubes that fit
•Emergency and tea money
•Telephone number of parent or rescuer on a piece paper
•If this is your first ride a signed parental consent form.
Parents/Guardians/Rescuers - You’re welcome to join us however if you can’t/don’t want to join in please ensure you are contactable and able to collect your charge should the need arise.
A brief pointer to you about the condition of your bikes, we will be starting to extend these rides and it is important that your bike is in good condition. As they say prevention is better than cure- so please ensure that you carefully check your bike before you head off. Whilst punctures are part of life, some decent tyres and correct (high) tyre pressure will go along way to preventing them.
I look forward to seeing as many of your as possible on Saturday
Wednesday Evening Training Sessions with Dulwich.
Next Wednesday’s session at the velodrome is the last in the series, afterwhich we will running Youth/Junior chain gang on Wednesday evening details of which will be in next week’s ‘drivel’. Those who have raced the London League and have aspirations to race at Palace are encouraged to join these evening rides.
Thursday Evening Cluster Sessions
I understand this series has been extended for a couple of weeks, please refer to Jason for further details.
HHYCC AGM - 28th February
This is a fun filled event complete with dinner, a Rolla Pluza event and Annual prize giving. The only downside is the actual AGM bit, but we’ll rattle through that in our normal fun filled manner. See HHYCC website for details.
Dulwich Paragon Prize Giving - Thursday 5th March
Another chance to take home the silver, several of you are in line to receive trophies so attendance is advisable - see Dulwich Forum for details and sign up on Rider HQ. Cost is modest £10 (I think) and includes buffer dinner.
Racing
Next MTB race is on the 1st March, part of the Southern XC series, hosted by West Drayton CC in the Alps de Sloughand as being close to London this is a good race to target. NB as Southern XC is is a BC regulated event check whether your BC license is up to date.
Regards
Charlie
