The big results this week were at Palace - youth B race, with Max reaching semi God like status with a third, closely followed by Oliver in 6th. Well done the pair of you.
Saturday 18th July, Road Ride to pastures new …….
Road ride this week - approx 44.1 miles (yes believe it or not, we are responsible adults and do a recce of the route before committing you lot on them) taking in a number of new and interesting challenges (hills) along with an A and B route option for part of the ride - worry not, all will be explained on Saturday.
The route essentially climbs from Addington, passes Woldingham en route Bletchley before heading back to Annerly Hill via Whyteleafe. It’s summer so the weather will be awesome.
Meet at the velodrome at 9 and we will be back at Cafe Paradou approx 1 pm.
It is important that you heed the following:
BC & HHYCC/DP membership, wearing helmets, full water bottle, some snacks and money to buy coffee and essential buns are necessary.
Parents/Guardians and Carers are welcome to join the ride, however should this concept not appeal, you need to contactable and available to collect your charge should the need arise.
Harry Must Time Trial - Polhill Hill Sunday 19th
Serge is running a bit if an interesting one off TT this Sunday - 2 riders set off together and complete the course as a team, the clocks stop when the second has crossed the line - could be fun……………..
Details are at dulwichparagon.proboards.com/thread/8908/harry-sunday-19th-july and remember - this is a TT so under 18’s need the special TT Parents consent form (youth tab on the DP forum)
The normal time trial is scheduled for Thursday this week
Summer Cross Thursday 23rd July - Bethlem
The first in great little series, Dulwich are listed to help course set and marshall but I am expecting sufficient volunteers to turn up to allow all those who want to race to race. If you want to borrow a bike to race please let me know this weekend.
Check the pertinent website for details
Dulwich Paragon Footpath Hill Climb Saturday 25th July.
Saturday after next, we will not be running a road ride but would like as many of you as possible to turn up and do the climb. Apart from the straight forward challenge - ride the hill on a road bike, there are also other categories, fixed, Cross and most importantly for some of you lot - Mountain Bike. Copious prizes for every category, the event is open only to members of Dulwich Paragon and Herne Hill Youth.
Cos I’m also the Cyclo Cross/MTB Sec for Dulwich, I’m particularly keen that the knobbly tyre categories are over subscribed………………I’m relying on you MTB racers.
TORK in your Sleep - MTB 12 hour Team Enduro
Dave and I are especially keen to enter one or teams to this highlight in the MTB calendar held on the 30th August. Full details on the Gorrick website, event is open to those 16 plus. If you want to try a decent challenge let either myself or Dave know as soon as, we need to enter teams well in advance.
Cross training rides
We will be heading back to Mitcham from mid August to hone those Cross skills. Those of you spent the summer on the road don’t discard Cross as a way of keeping some base fitness over the winter. If you want to give it a bash but don’t have a bike, let me know and I’ll try and arrange for you to borrow a BC bike.
