Chapeaux to Elliott Coley this week, late off the starting block but has more than compensated by riding several races with a deal of intelligence playing to his strengths. He got a 4th at Stratford this week and has earned his 3rd Cat status. Well done lad………...2nd next year?
Saturday 29nd August - 2nd Cross Training Ride.
Meet at the velodrome at 9 am for the first in a series of Cyclo Cross training rides, these sessions are based on skill training rather than endurance (cos you all have plenty of that). We’ll be going to Mitcham Common, South Norwood Country Park, Bethlem and further afield as the need arises.
This week’s session will tackle steep nasty ascents and descents along with some race starts.
Admittedly a Cross bike is preferred you can do these sessions with any bike capable of going off road - ie MTB or touring bike.
We’ll be back at Cafe Paradou close to 12.30.
Part of the rides will be on roads, so normal rules and pack drill:
Helmets must be worn
BC HHYCC and/or DP Membership required
Bring spare inner tubes
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
Money for emergency buns
Food and water
and if it’s your first ride with us a signed parental consent form.
Next Weekend - Racing Saturday and Sunday .
Saturday 5th September - Dulwich Paragon Worlds at Hog Hill
This is the Dulwich Paragon end of season club finale held this year at Hog Hill. Essentially a road race held between club members (and by special invitation, those regular Saturday morning HHYCC attendees). This year we have added a ‘fun’ Cross race to the event - I’m expecting to race both the Cross and the Road race.
There will be tea buns and a barbeque, prize giving and other entertainments during the afternoon.
Program:
12.40 - Cross Race - All Cats
13.30 - Handicapped Womans races
14.45 - Handicapped Mens races
Sunday 6th Mud Options
Such choice! either MTB at Penshurst with a race from the Mud Sweat and Gears series or the 1st in the season of the London League Cyclo Cross at Stanmer Park in Brighton.
I’ll no doubt be going to the more local MTB race at Penshurst.
Winter Mid Week Training Sessions
Most of you will be able to join either or both the DP or the BC Cluster session of road bikes on the track, starting in the 1st week of October - more details to follow.
Until then I may run a few Junior Chain Gangs for the faster riders only, I’ll post details.
Next week………
Sunday - Tork in your Sleep - MTB Enduro
Monday -
Tuesday -
Wednesday -
Thursday -
Friday -
Saturday - DP World Champs
Sunday - MSG (MTB) Penshurst - London League (CycloX) Stanmer Park Brighton
Details of all races can be found on the British Cycling website, Rider Hq or the Dulwich Forum.
