Chapeau to Eddie - the only Dulwich Junior competing in the 1st of the Winter Enduro’s, fighting through the mud and slippery roots of an awkwardly difficult course to finishing in 5th, which coupled with a 4th in the Grand Vets made it a good day for that venerable London road club - Dulwich Paragon.
Saturday 21st November Junior Road ride
I’ll be leading a steady Junior and Espoirs road ride this Saturday morning (suitable for those aged 14 and above) most likely taking in the delights Woldingham and other assorted less well trodden paths.
Meet at 9am to return to Paradou by 1pm.
This is a road ride so normal pack drill pls
Helmets must be worn
BC HHYCC and/or DP Membership required
Bring spare inner tubes that fit your bike
Wear suitable clothing for the weather
Money for emergency buns
Food and water
The name and telephone number of an adult who can rescue you on a PIECE OF PAPER in your back pocket.
Apologies No Youth ride this weekend
We’re very short on coaches this weekend and will be unable to run a Youth ride this Saturday, however there will be a Youth off road ride next weekend.
NB in these emails ‘Youth’ generally refers to those riders aged between 12 and 14 and ‘Juniors’ those aged 14 to 16 ish and ‘Espoires’ young adults aged 16 ish to 23. These age groups are more a guide to the pace, distance and expected performance of each individual rider than a defined age group - so please ask if you’re unclear as to what ride you should do.
Sunday 22nd November - Cyclo Cross Rd 9 - Sumner Ponds Sussex
It was muddy last year and will probably be as muddy on Sunday…….Good Luck
Wednesday 25th November Evening Dulwich Chain Gangs at Herne Hill
An intermediate session - starts at 7 pm for Juniors and older.
Thursday evenings: British Cycling Cluster Sessions, run by coaches from all the local clubs these sessions are aimed at Youth A and B category riders. Sign on opens at 7 pm, ensure you’re signed on by 7.15, you’ll be finished by 9 pm. There is a £3 levy for each session. Please bring along a signed parental consent form.
If you’re an aspiring HHYCC racer over 12 - it’s important you attend these sessions. If you need to borrow a bike please let me know well beforehand, I can’t always get to every session.
30th November London League Rd 10 - CycloPark - Gravesend and National Series in Ipswich
For the mortals - Gravesend, normally a very interesting and technical course. For the Gods - Ipswich and the Nationals. Eddie and Titouan are Ipswich bound - good luck to the pair of you.
Cycle Revolution - Design Museum, Shad Thames until 30th June
I went to the preview of this interesting collection of every conceivable shape and size of bike made from a myriad of different materials, some credible other less so . The exhibition features bikes ridden by various Knights of the Realm including Sirs Hoy and Wiggins. Well worth a visit on a wet afternoon. Google for entry details
