Hi all, I'm hoping to find a week this month to get away and cram in some training before the summer starts. Do you have any recommendations for good places to stay for a week? I'm looking for: - good food
- good weather
- pretty scenery
- ideally other people on 2 wheels so that I don't go insane from prolonged solitude
I went out to Vamos (http://www.vamoscycling.com/) and Garda Bike Hotel (http://www.gardabikehotel.com/en/) before and enjoyed both trips, but would be keen to try out something new. So any suggestions? Anyone else fancy getting away from London in May? Vlad

Nice is Nice and all that, but I'd recommend Italy if you're thinking late May.
Bellagio works well for rides around Como, up to the Museo Ghisallo and the church and sojourns into Swizterland via the Maloja, St Bernina Furka pass and lots more. Bormio will give you the Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo. NB stelvio will be cold and possibly closed in Early May, weather depending.
If you want truly stunning, head to the Dolomites and stay in any numbers of places from Cortina, Canazei or Corvara (on the Maratona route). The region is the best place in the world for a cycling holiday and trumps the Alps, Pyrenees and Sierra Nevada for sheer beauty.

ps if you're looking for something a little less well trodden, Asturias, Cantabria and Galicia are wonderful too with cheap flights to Oviedo and a Coruna. It's easy to plot a trip to include the likes of the Covadonga, Fuente de, Angliru and Ancares. You wont find finer octopus anywhere!

I would recommend Citrus Cycling; quite a few of us in the club have used Adam's setup in the Costa Blanca Spain and it is excellent value and also great riding country. Myself and Rahal went last year, joining two others he had booked (from Canada) and we had a great week out there...so he's happy to mix and match people to make a group of similar level. Adam has excellent knowledge of the area, is a former pro and leads all the rides, he's happy to give you tips and is a thoroughly nice bloke. They just sent me an email about their autumn deals, but check out their availability and website; you can see what good value it is: Autumn Short Break Book Now! Book yourself a fantastic 4 night short break this Autumn, to include: 4 Nights stay 3 Days Guided Rides 3 Days Bike Hire Breakfast & Evening Meals All For Just 325€ pp Contact us NOW to find out more on this great offer! Thanks for the info all, I'll have a look at Como (because it's hard to get bad food in Italy) and Citrus cycling. Just need to convince work to give me some holiday.
