Some of you are probably old hands at Zwift, but I'm not and am curious to know more about how it can be used to make turboing less tedious. Sigma sport in Hampton Wick (other side of Kingston bridge) are doing a free evening on it. It's free but you have to sign up email.sigmasport.co.uk/c/12PdxpXi1LyTlwMUNmQhO6mpihRUWould be nice to have some DP company if anyone else wants a demo.

I used to hate turbo training - it was something I would do only when conditions outside were utterly apocalyptic for days on end.
But for the last 18 months I've done probably 50-60% of my riding on Zwift. I've pretty much switched to the point where I regard the trainer as my training and outside rides are social or racing.
Zwift can be quite social and competitive too - there are regular group rides, training sessions and a lot of races. To be honest I don't like the racing because it's too easy for people to cheat but a lot of people are into it.
Have a look at it on the Sigma night and if you have any questions afterwards I can probably help.

Thanks for posting this Kathryn - I'm a big fan of zwift. Couldn't do turbo training without it to be honest. Zwift is improving all the time too. There's an iOS app that is currently in beta which, I'm hoping, they'll have available to try at this Sigma Event.

And I'm in the Android camp - curse IOS!! Just use your laptop. I suspect it will work better anyway, given the amount of processing power needed for the graphics. People in the IOS beta say there are still quite a few bugs.

Doubt there's a way to that though? Other than that the trainer will fit in my spare room, which is small and gets hot!!

I couldn't get it to work on my crap top. Not enough processing power? Damnit.

Can't make it now, which is a shame. Joe, if you have Apple TV, you might well be able to stream it.

It's not so much the processing of the laptop itself but the graphics card. So if your computer is basically a business-oriented spec then it may struggle, although anything reasonably modern (2/3 years) should be able to cope with at least the standard definition. My old MacBook used to be OK just for me but when there were a lot of riders it got pretty jumpy, and I upgraded to a Dell XPS. Recommended specs are: OS Windows 7 64bit or higher, or macOS 10.8 or higher PROCESSOR Dual Core IntelĀ® Core i5 or AMD MEMORY 8GB GRAPHICS 2GB Radeon R9 200 series, or NVIDIA GTX 650 HARD DISK 4GB of free space There's a full specs description on the Zwift main website with the low and high end as well. zwift.com/get-started@joefisher Fans are essential ! Getting from PC to TV - depending on the distance could you run an HDMI cable? There must be some wireless way of sending the signal from the PC to a receiver on the TV but I haven't looked into that.
