Have truing stand, won't travel. However, I'm now on East Dulwich Grove, so you don't have to go far to reach me. I'm dropping my prices commensurate with the state of the economy: £35 per hour. Drop me an email if you want to book a time. tatyree@gmail.com--Todd

Todd, it would be better if you offered Dulwich Paragon members a discount or some incentive. £35 an hour for a bike mechanic is still pretty expensive when most people can sort their own bikes out... or get friends to help for free.

Hi Kevin, I've never serviced yours, but I think you'll find that I get good references from a large number of club stalwarts.* I've been a pro level mechanic for 20 years and have done a lot of work around the club in the past; at one point, about two and a bit years ago, on one Saturday ride, I counted 18 bikes I'd built or serviced in the pack. The only reason I'm not Service Manager at Evans in The Cut is that the max they could offer me for the position was £18k a year. This didn't even cover my childcare, so I had to decline in the end. If you're comfortable servicing your own bike, by all means, do so. If, however, you need BB or headtube facing, wheel building (or emergency roadside truing–ask Ronnie or Omar about the Italian on the Felice Gimondi), badly bent rear mechs sorted, frozen campag shifters unfrozen, high speed weaving fixed, or you're not comfortable with anything other than basic mechanics (&tc. &tc.), then I'm your man. As for cost, when I was last working in and around the club, I was charging £50 per hour and getting almost more work than I could manage. Last I looked, Evans and Action were getting around over £100 for a standard service (and not always doing consistently good work). For me to do the same work would now cost you around £70 and I'm certainly willing to do deals if I know you. ...oh, yes, and I turn work MUCH faster than any of the shops (as anyone who has used my services will tell you). *(edited to remove references to specific people in the club as it feels like poor form to name them without asking first).

for what it's worth, i think that £35 per hour is actually a pretty reasonable deal for top level mechanic services, particularly when one compares to the prices being charged in LBS in London. i haven't used todd, but i imagine you would get a more personal service as well.
on top of all that he is also a club member and i would much prefer to pass the trade internally than say to evans, geoffrey butler or edwardes, even if he were a bit more pricey (which he isn't).
as with all things on the buy and sell forum, members are perfectly capable of making their own mind up as to whether or not it's a good deal for them and they can take it or leave it as they choose.

I personally rate Todd's servicing very highly and am happy to pay for his time. I would not expect someone to give up most evenings for no benefit and think his rates are comparable, especially when I believe you get a better service. My first visit back to Todd a couple of weeks ago and he points out a list of things that no one else has ever mentioned to me when servicing my bike in the past. (plus a personal service and evening collection and pick up times fits around work a lot better too)
If you have friends who can do all this for you then great, but that does not apply to all of us.
A happy customer.

Another happy customer here. I'm pretty comfortable with most parts of the bike but there are still a few areas which scare me - wheels and headsets especially. I've had services and truing done elsewhere but still get a better service from Todd every time and I know it's been worked on by a professional rather than some YTS spanner monkey.

Hey Todd, I'm sorry. I've just looked on the members list and you're definitely not down as having paid. You need to contact Guy to sort out what's gone wrong if you did pay back in October.

When did Kevin leave? I think you're getting him confused with Sean.

Was that crap little restaurant in Nunhead called "The Restaurant". I used to live above it, very inventive name.

Having glanced at the online membership list, Todd's not the only member who's not on the list. Counting Todd, there are at least five other people who I know are active members but are not listed. Oh, and I can also vouch for Todd's mechanical skills. The big advantage of using Todd is that he is a known quantity. Book your bike for a service elsewhere, and you don't know who's working on your bike.
