Easyjet is one option, you'll then need to book a transfer with ATS a-t-s.bigfoot-travel.com/Filling a few cars is probably a better option as it means there are more options when you get here. 4 people in a car costs about the same as a cheap flight. It's a 8 hour drive to Chamonix from Calais, pretty easy if you swap drivers. Sorry, but I don't think there'll be any wine in the seller, but If you want to fill it up Nigel (the owner) won't stand in your way;) Kevin

Message boards are not for people who speak/type before they think...
I suppose it's best to go by car. It might take a bit more time and might even be a bit more expensive but you don't have to hand your expensive bike over to any roughly build luggage handlers. More chance your bike arrives in one piece, if they don't fly of your roof that is!

Ok, I've paid the deposit of £200 so the chalet's booked. The balance is due in April, but I'll post up here nearer the time about collecting the money. It may be easier if I pay and someone back in London collects all the money then pays it into my account, but we can sort all that out later. Anyway, better get back on my turbo so you don't all give me a kicking on the hills!

Hello Kevin and Julene - hope things are going well and you're recovering nicely Julene. Are there any places left in the chalet for Claire and me? If so, we're willing to drive down. We could fit in four people comfortably, five at a pinch, with four bikes on the roof.

Sean, there will definitely be room. The Chalet has a Mazot for two extras, either Julene and Myself can sleep there or you could? The Mazot is a little like bob's shed, it has a shower and wc in it, and is strangely romantic. Julene and I spent last winter in it so it's plenty warm.
A car will be a great asset as it'll make getting around easy for the two stages that are nearby. We'll have to drive through the mont blanc tunnel as you can't cycle through. I'll do a round-up next month and try and get everyone organised, ie sort out who's definitely coming and get the money off everyone.

So this is how it stands now.
The place can sleep 15 max, and there's 16 names . 13 definites, 3 maybes.
If 13 people come it'll work out at £80 each. I might ask everyone to pay £90 in case anyone drops out. If no-one drops out i'll just buy some wine and beer with the extra money.
To recap there are: two triple rooms with single beds. (6 people) two twin/double rooms. (4 people) one double room (2 people) 1 Mazot with double (2 people) living room with sofa bed (1 person)
Definitely:
Myself Julene Karen Rich David Oscar Jeff Anne Bob Graeme Mark Claire Sean Mck
Possibly:
Chris L? Dan? Ronnie?

Excellent - the mazot sounds perfect. I've always found Bob's shed strangely romantic as well. Could you just confirm the dates?

The dates are slightly odd as we have it from Friday to Saturday, the reason being that the stage finish at La Thuile is on Saturday afternoon. So if you want to see that you need to arrive Friday afternoon.
Friday 19th May pm - Saturday 27th May am (8 nights)
The drive from Calais to Chamonix is all motorway and take about 8/9 hours of you just stop for petrol and coffee. We normally leave London at 6am and get to Chamonix for 6pm.

I have to pay the chalet owner the balance for the chalet at the end of this month so I'm going to need some money from those that are coming. I'll email everyone that is a definite to confirm that they're still interested and then work out exactly how much it'll be each.

I haven't heard back from Richie and Karen although I think Sean and Claire are providing a lift down but could Richie or Karen email me just to let me know for sure that you're still interested as I'll need to get the money sorted out soon. The same goes for Oscar, Mark or Bob. If you guys see this post please drop me an email. Everyone else thanks for replying to my email, I'll be in touch again soon.

Anyone driving down with a space? I am a good navigator, can make tasty sandwiches and don't snore...
