Yep Delia really did have a great race... I'll let Delia post up her report. Having entered on a bit of a whim (and then feeling like I might be completely out of my depth - especially after Bradford!) I've come away feeling quite satisfied with my race. I might have finished 62nd, but I wasn't last and certainly not the last rider thoughout the race. I had a good start and made up a large number of places before the first bottleneck. However I got a little spooked in all the argy-bargy and found myself dropping back a little. After the first lap I started to pick off riders again until I was caught by the leaders with about 20mins to go. I really enjoyed my race and came away feeling I'd done all I was able to considering my current (lack of) race fitness. All in all, I had a really good day and enjoyed the whole experience. Well done Kevin for your top 20 yesterday!

Just saw the results, well done both of you. On the BC report there's a good picture of Delia at the start (just behind Helen Wyman).

Picture courtesy and copyright of Britsh CyclingAye, as David said, it was a really good day. Sutton Park is a really good course and the whole thing was put together well...all the more so because they gridded me on the second row! I was lined up right behind Helen Wyman which increased the nerve levels a little. I had a good start but then dropped the chain after a slight stumble on the first lap. I lost quite a few places and spent the rest of the race trying to pull it back. If only there was another lap, I think I could have caught the group in front (although I wasn't thinking that at the time - I just wanted the pain to end!). Anyway, I'm looking forward to next season's cross already and putting in some real training. Reckon I'll do more National races for sure. Well done Kevin - sounds like you did really well in pulling places back after the mechanical.

My three points! That's hilarious...oh well, pennies make pounds I suppose so it all counts!

Backing up what David and Delia said, these big races are great, so much more fun than a normal league race. Good courses, properly marked out, big fields and good close racing. Worth the effort and mostly only a couple of hours drive away.
Saw some video and I was 65th going into the woods first time and ended in 40th. That's a lot of overtaking. Excellent fun.
